Welcome to our ordinary. This is life: school, work, endless loads laundry, and chaos. Sound familiar? It is here in the day to day we are pressed to find the extraordinary, and if we’re not careful, too often we miss it. My stories here reflect our desire to chase extraordinary in the ordinary because we have found it is there, all you have to do is look for it.
For me, the extraordinary is most easily found in travel and time with my loved ones outdoors. A love for travel and adventure was instilled in me at a young age by my family. I grew up listening to my grandfather’s tales of far off places and making an ever growing bucket list. While visiting The Extraordinary I hope you find inspiration and encouragement to chase extraordinary. I will share our adventures and travel tips in the hopes that these places make and get crossed off your bucket list too.
“I have a crazy idea.” When my husband starts a conversation like this I worry. He lives outside of the box; I, however, live very comfortably in it with coffee and a good book. “We should sell everything, live on a catamaran, and sail the world.” My nonchalant reply, with said coffee and nose in a good book, “I will go by land, but not by sea,” would set the wheels turning for a year that would change our lives. In under a year we had quit our jobs, rented our home, and set off to roadschool our children and chase extraordinary.
